"Would have made me the same as her," she points out. "Except if things hadn't happened, I might have. We had to deal with a bigger threat then." And destroying a ghost serial killer given body again became priority. "Worst to me is that she might be Supreme now. If she pass the Seven Wonders..."
Her lip curls even thinking.
"I did the best I could. No magic. I don't waste magic on people like her."
"Makes you better than most of the witches I know- but that ain't exactly news."
Misty is a better person in general than most people Gren knows, back home. She's actually decent- gives a shit about people. He's still angry she's been torn from her world, when she could have done so much more for the people who care about here there.
"I suspect you knew some like Madison, and Fiona," she admits, if only because the way he talks about them, that's how it sounds.
"If she passed the Seven Wonders? Yeah. The last Supreme is dead, so one of us has to ascend to Supreme," she says, voice soft and muffled. "I failed."
"Probably. Especially if they're prone towards dick behaviour- which it sounds like they are."
Most witches are, objectively, The Worst. He lets out a rumbling sigh.
"You didn't fail, you just got fucked over in the shittiest way possible," that's what he believes and he'll live and die by that thank you. "Hell, that Madison bitch could have made it so you couldn't get out properly. Sounds like you can't put that kinda shit past her."
She's gone from anger to sadness, and it was bound to happen. Much as she likes how he says it, she shakes her head. "I don't think she could have. I just... You face your own Hell and have to be strong enough to leave it. I wasn't.
"That said, she likely would have killed me if I had become Supreme. She is much more Fiona's daughter in behavior than Cordelia ever was. Even in the short time I knew them all."
And he'll stand by that. She shouldn't of been dumped there- left trapped, just because she didn't beat some stupid fucking witch test. There should have been fail safes. They should have been able to get her out again.
"Sounds like she's just one of those fucking a-holes, yeah. Hope she got what was fuckin' coming to her and she didn't end up getting what she wanted- but let's face it, the spoiled, nasty fuckers usually get out on top in the end."
"It's not. I can't argue that with what I've been through but it doesn't change life. It's not fair you have to hide like you do, and with threat of basically prison," she points out.
"She was laying on the floor with us all when I got trapped. I don't know beyond that," she admits, wishing she did have an answer, but not sure it was worth doing anything that might get her those answers.
"...Okay, good point, it ain't. It's just...bullshit we gotta live with, I guess."
Not a comforting thought. This Madison could well have got through it all, to climb onto the metaphorical top of the witch pile. He sighs, moving to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear- an attempt at comfort.
"Guess we just gotta live with that too. The not knowing."
"Right now? I live with this place. This is my life, and my home. My tribe is here. You're here," she says, smiling as she kisses the tip of his nose.
"Madison is a hurt and petty child who will have to live with what she's done to others. I will live here with what I've done." She still wonders how she's the one that ended up in Hell and not Madison, but maybe she had to so she could end up here, in this place, with Gren and others.
He lets out a soft 'heh' at that comment, at her little nose kiss.
"Too right, I'm here, ain't going nowhere."
He knows he doesn't actually have any power in that regard, but it's nice to pretend he can fight it. That when his time eventually came, he could stay back- for her, for the people he gives a shit about here.
"I hope it does too," she admits in a low voice, moving in to hug him snugly once more. Despite her anger when she first came here. "And thank you for feeling that way too, even if I know I should let it go."
And she should, but it's not going to happen. Not any time soon.
"And we're not going to worry. We're together and we are going to do what we can in this place until we can't anymore."
He pulls his arm around her comfortably, closing his eyes as he rests his chin on the top fo her head. He listens to the steady lud-dub of her heartbeat, finding comfort in it.
"Fuck letting it go. She's a fuckin' piece of shit who doesn't deserve you letting it go."
Gren, forever the advocate of Resentment Til You Die.
"The universe will pay her back," she admits in a low murmur, believing that. "What does hating her do to my life here? Nothing. It doesn't make it better. She shows up here? That's another story," she says, meaning it. Until then though, she has this.
"Let her show up and even look at you the wrong way."
"You're a better person than I am. I'd go the hate route, myself."
Which is why he's a bitter old monster with like a tiny handful of Actual Friends. It's not the best route to take at all. Still, Misty's threat does make him laugh. Not mockingly, not at all, he's actually pretty amused. Charmed even.
She leans back slightly, moving to match his gaze with her own. "Actually I busted into Miss Robicheaux's and started hitting her with my fists. Hard. I refused to even waste magic on her," she admits, shrugging.
"Then the ghost of a serial killer showed up in the coven house and we had to deal with that. You got a pillow because I was mad, but I didn't want to hurt you."
She nods, a bit of sadness there, letting the anger. She needs Gren in her life, in some way or form, more than she needs to be upset with him for not telling her he'd died. Knowing that logically in his life, the death isn't entirely new or to be thought about. NOt in the way that it happened.

"Did you at least make her sorry for what she did?"
