[When he shows up, a little while later, it's with a timid tap against the door. Once it's answered, Grendel will find him standing outside with a red silk tie held between slightly nervous hands.]

[The sight tugs a rare, gentle smile across Gren's lips. Well, fuck if that wasn't adorable. He cocks his head, inviting R inside.]

C'mon then. Let's make you look presentable.

[He heads inside.]

You looking forward to it? The party?

Mm... maybe.

[He walks in, handing the tie over to Gren. It's the one thing he always kept from his previous life, on Julie's insistence.]

I've never really been to a party before. It's... a lot.

[Gren takes the tie, flicking it over his shoulder so he can fix R's collar first. That's the problem when you have one less arm, everything takes twice as long.]

Last one I went to ended pretty badly, so I don't go to them no more. What with all the eating Nords and shit. Can't fuckin' stand parties.

[He puts the tie around R's neck, slowly working on fix it up.]

I'm probably gonna go stay in the lake til it's over.

[It's funny, how it never even occurred to him that Gren might not be able to do this with one hand. He manages everything else well enough, so why not tying a tie? He ducks his head slightly with a small, timid smile as his collar is fixed up, standing patiently. He's good at being patient.]

You hate it that much..?

[He tilts his head minutely.]

Not a... people person.

No, I'm not a people person. But that ain't why I avoid it.

[He finishes the tie, setting the collar right again. There you go, R, you look great.]

I got really fuckin' good hearing. Parties are like having a sack of fuckin' bricks being slammed the hell into my skull repeatedly. Hence why my whole story with the...uh Nord murdering and all that shit. I just try and get as far the hell away from the noise as I can these days.

Oh... [R's a quiet person by nature, but he subconsciously lowers the volume of his voice still further with that knowledge. It's not something that he minds. Raising his voice has always been something he's found difficult, unless he's angry.]

That... that makes sense. Is it quiet at the bottom of the lake?

[Gren catches the lowered volume, and his lips curve in a quick, grateful smile.]

Yeah, sound don't carry so well underwater. Plus it's far enough from the mansion it'll be quieter anyway. I'll probably still hear some fuckin' noise, but it won't be as bad as being in the mansion for it all.

[R smiles back shyly, feeling the tips of his ears warm and his face heating up.]

I'll come down and say hi.

That'd be nice. I think Misty's gonna spend some time by the lake too. I'd appreciate it if you could keep her company for a lil' while.

[Because he won't be able to stay above the water for long, and he knows she's stubborn enough to stay out in the goddamn cold, alone. ]
